Teaching Style
My teaching philosophy is based on the following principles: 1. I strive to create an environment that is focused on the learners. To do this, I incorporate the following techniques to the classroom: hands-on learning, active class participation, active thinking, and group work. 2. I strive to use teaching techniques that will empower learners to be self-sufficient. 3. I strive to make the information taught relevant to the students, addressing their interests and concerns. 4. I strive to maintain a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning (by being patient, by setting clear educational goals, by avoiding boredom, by ensuring constant personal interaction with my students, by having a sense of humour!). 5. I strive to use technology in a way that will foster learning, and introduce skills that will be needed throughout the learners’ development. 6. I strive to improve my teaching by seeking student feedback, talking with peers, attending teaching seminars and experimenting with new methods. I also believe that teaching and research must be integrated. Good teachers need to be at the cutting-edge of recent scholarship.
